Indianapolis Winter Wedding at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and The Rathskeller | Maddie and Philo

On the coldest day of winter, Maddie and Philo were married! But even a high of 5 degrees didn’t stop the joy! Maddie got ready for the altar surrounded by her closest family and best friends. Everyone helped eachother with hair and makeup, enjoyed fresh coffee and pastries, and sang along to a wedding morning playlist. Maddie was the calmest and happiest bride! One of the best things about working with such wonderful Catholic couples is that their joy is always so evident. Maddie was no exception; she just couldn’t wait to meet Philo at the altar!

Across town, Philo donned his classic black suit as his best man and college friend helped him fasten his tie. After some killer groom portraits and a few rounds of pool, the gentleman headed over to the church. Philo was the epitome of cool, calm, and collected! A recent convert to the Catholic faith, I was so impressed by his knowledge of the faith and attention to detail in planning their liturgy for the mass.

Maddie’s sister and maid of honor helped her into one of my most favorite wedding dresses in recent memory! A lace bodysuit under a gorgeous taffeta ballgown, complete with a mantilla veil. It was the perfect winter wedding look and so gorgeous for a Catholic wedding mass. Very Kate Middleton/Grace Kelly!

Their nuptial mass was in downtown Indianapolis at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. One of our favorite churches in the city and dear to our hearts as photographers. Every mass at this church seems to be more beautiful than the last. Maddie beamed on her father’s arm as she looked ahead to Philo at the end of the aisle. Their reverent mass was complete with incense, incredible music, and all of their dearest family and friends looking on and praying for the newlywed couple.

After walking back down the aisle, Maddie and Philo ducked in the narthex’s elevator space as everyone exited the church. Tom grabbed the sweetest moment of them, so full of joy that they were finally married! After family and bridal party portraits, we were off to the Indianapolis War Memorial and the Bottleworks Hotel for bride and groom portraits. Even though the elements didn’t allow for much outdoor portrait time, we still got some beautiful photos inside and out. I have to say that the staircase ones are some of my favorites, so classy!

Their reception was warm and welcoming at The Rathskeller with the most delicious German food for all to enjoy. Their parents gave touching welcomes to all in attendence and everyone looked on as Maddie and Philo shared a beautiful first dance under the twinkling lights. It was so romantic and sweet, and being up close as the photographer made me tear up and how tenderly Maddie and Philo looked at each other. A perfect match, brought together by God. What a gift to witness such faithful love! Congratulations, Maddie and Philo, we are so happy for you!

So many thanks to the wonderful vendor team who made their day possible!
