Megan and Connor’s wedding day fell on the feast of The Sacred Heart of Jesus and they intentionally honored Him through the details of their day. One very special detail was the novena they prayed leading up to their wedding day! Megan and Connor so kindly included me in this novena and it was an honor to join them in praying for their future marriage. Other little nods to The Sacred Heart included their holy card favors, Megan’s red nails, their beautiful reception table numbers, and Connor’s Sacred Heart Socks! It always amazes me how creative couples get with wedding details and decor.
The wedding mass took place at St. Paul on the Lake, a stunning church right across the street from Lake St. Clair. Minus a slight invasion of fish flies, we were still able to spend a few moments outside for portraits and prayer. Connor led his soon-to-be bride in prayer moments before she walked down the aisle to him. After nearly 7 years of dating, the look they shared when Megan approached the altar was one of pure joy and emotion. The mass was holy and reverent with five priests celebrating the sacrament! It ended with Megan and Connor’s devotion to Mary and Saint Joseph and a joyful exit down the aisle.
Their wedding reception was held at The Colony Club in downtown Detroit, a perfect venue for their classic and elegant wedding. Gold and white table accents complemented the elegant architecture of the Colony Club, tying together their classy and elegant theme. Megan and Connor were announced as husband and wife on the balcony while their family and friends cheered them on from below. It was such a special moment and you could just feel how much everyone loved Megan and Connor. The sweetest part of the evening ( no pun intended ) was after all of the formalities and first dances were complete. Megan and Connor treated their guests to an ice cream bar which they got to partake in as well! They grabbed their favorite flavor and were able to sit and relax while enjoying a treat, it was so cute! I always try to make sure my couples get a few minutes where they can step away from the fullness of the reception to take everything in. I’m so happy that Megan and Connor were able to have a moment of peace because their ice cream moment and photos ended up being my favorite of the reception.
We are overjoyed for you, Megan and Connor! You are in our prayers and we look forward to the time when we meet again. May God Bless you and we hope your road trip honeymoon has been incredible so far. – Colette
