Cristina and Joshua’s classy and elegant downtown Chicago engagement photos quickly became one of my favorite sessions of the year! I say this all of the time but getting the chance to meet couples in person before their wedding day is so valuable to me as a photographer but also because it feels like you get to meet two new friends! Cristina and Joshua met online and have been in a long-distance relationship for most of their time together. Joshua is a firefighter in Indiana and Cristina is a software engineer in Chicago so they love any chance they get to visit each other. The city of Chicago holds many special memories for them so I was extra excited when Cristina requested a location with a skyline view for their engagement photos. As we planned their session over email, Cristina mentioned that the timing of their engagement photos couldn’t be more perfect because it was nearly 5 years to the day of their dating anniversary!
We met for their engagement photos on Loyola’s Campus where we walked alongside Lake Michigan and got lucky with the most beautiful soft and glowy light. Cristina’s elegant white gown looked incredible and paired so well with Joshua’s outfit! Although it got overcast for our photos at North Avenue Beach, Cristina and Joshua were the perfect subjects and popped against the cloudy Chicago skies. Cristina had the great idea to end the session with some photos along the beach and in the water and I just loved how they came out! It means so much when couples trust me and my location selections, but I always love when couples have a vision in mind for their sessions too. I could not be more excited to photograph their wedding at St. Mary of the Angels in downtown Chicago next spring! St. Mary’s has been on my *must* photograph list for some time now and I’m honored that we will be the ones to document the wedding of sweet Cristina and Joshua. Congratulations, Cristina and Joshua! We are so excited for you both and you are in our prayers.
