Brooke and Eben’s Traditional Latin Mass Wedding at St. Stanislaus in Milwaukee, was like the mass name itself, nothing short of extraordinary!
From the very beginning, Brooke and Eben made it clear to me that their wedding would be soley centered around Christ. They wanted to show the beauty of The Catholic Faith to their family and friends in attendance, even down to the smallest of details. From details like their Marian crest wax seals on their invitations and Eben’s Sacred Heart cufflinks, choosing a Traditional Latin Mass wasn’t just a stylistic decision, it was a reflection of how deeply they love The Catholic Faith. One of my favorite details of the day was Brooke’s custom, Sacred Heart of Jesus veil! As a couple, Brooke and Eben share a great devotion to The Sacred Heart and she found the most breathtaking way to incporate it into her classic bridal look. It stunned everyone and she had so many compliments!
As catholic wedding photographers, we have had the great honor of capturing many beautiful wedding masses, but capturing the sacred details of the Extraordinary Form of the mass, complete with incense, Gregorian chant, and the solemn beauty of the High Altar—felt like a extra privilege. Canon Jayr celebrated the mass and gave a powerful homily. My favorite excerpt was at the beginning when Canon gave a kind yet firm message to the couple and their guests during the homily. After welcoming all to Brooke and Eben’s wedding mass, he kindly reminded them to maintain a demeanor of quite and reverence at all times in the church. “Why, you may ask? Because The Church is not a theater, and marriage is not a show.” Wow! Thank you God for strong leaders like the Canons from The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.
After a glorious mass, we made the most of the rainy day and created some gorgeous portraits around the church and even a few in St. Stanislaus’ beautiful library! The rain changed our original portrait plans and when I asked Brooke her preference in our back-up plan she turned to me with a smile on her face and said, ” I don’t care how he rest of the day goes! I’m married and that is what is most important, I’m so happy right now!” You can’t beat a bride with sacramental joy like that!
