Some engagement sessions are picture perfect because of the weather. Others, like Margaux and Phil’, are unforgettable because of the weather – but still picture perfect! Midwest weather in April is always hit or miss, and we were graced with some gray skies, wind, and a soft rain. However, Margaux and Phil made the best of it and embraced it all with joy! We had such a lovely morning in Chicago and they selected two locations that are very important to them as a couple.

When we planned their downtown Chicago engagement photos, we knew Oak Street Beach and Bourgeois Pig Café would be the perfect stops! These aren’t just pretty backdrops for Margaux and Phi;, they’re part of their story as a couple! They had their very first date at Bourgeois Pig Café, sipping coffee and sharing conversation in one of Chicago’s coziest little spots. I arrived first to the cafe and eyed the table closest to the window as I knew it would make for adorable photos. Turns out, that very table was where they sat for their first date! Margaux and Phil reminisced about that first date, sipping their tea and enjoying the slow Saturday morning happening outside the big paneled windows.

After the cafe, headed to Oak Street Beach, the very place where Phil proposed to Margaux just a few months prior! We walked around the riverwalk at Oak Street Beach, with the city skyline behind us and the epic Lake Michigan waves crashing around. Honestly, the moody weather only made it more romantic and nostalgic!

Margaux and Phil ( and Tom and I!) are counting down the days until their Catholic wedding at St. Mary of the Angels, one of Chicago’s most breathtaking churches. We are so looking forwarded to capturing the day they become one in the eyes of The Lord in such a beautiful and sacred space. See you in August, Margaux and Phil!
